About the Author
Dutch Grandmaster Hans Ree is one of the most respected journalists in the chess world today. A graduate of the University of Amsterdam where he specialized in the study of mathematics, Ree soon decided that he preferred the life of a professional chessplayer. Champion of The Netherlands four times, nowadays he is much more active as a writer than as a player. He is both a chess and regular columnist on general affairs for the leading Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad. He is also a regular contributor to the international magazine New In Chess and on the world wide web at The Chess Caf. The Human Comedy of Chess is Ree''s tenth book, the fifth about chess and his first to appear in English.
