Album Description
One of the most intriguing facets of Danny Allen's music is his ability to create an alternate universe a rabbit hole into which he beckons the listener to follow him down. The first track is a lazy summer afternoon replete with layers of luscious slide guitar and punctuated by lyrics painted in Technicolor brilliance. The street lights are buzzin like horseflies in summer. The gutters are teaming with aqua squirrels that are breeching
Rope swings and tires, vultures on wire...Howdy. As the metaphors compound, we begin to see the magical dawning of a new day, or perhaps a new world order? Before you know it youre swimming in a Fellinni film or maybe Tim Burton. As the track ends, you hit the back button just to make sure. Ahhh. Nice. Makes you wonder if you're not seeing this world as you should, either way, things definitely seem more interesting through the eyes of Mr. Allen. Bottom line, Howdy is simply a great rock n roll album with substance, style and a cast of characters you can totally picture meandering about his Hollywood residence. Theres Mary May with the dress so loud you can hear it in town; a child at heart with a mules brain and the loveable loser, Rock n Roll Eddie -- who weve all known. Eddie got up again, reached for the stars again, feet on the floor again
he lost his keys again. Say no more, Danny. On a more somber note, "Harvey's Last Stand," introduces us to an affable heroine who pushes her friend "Harvey" through town in an empty wheel chair. As her story unfolds, we explore the tragedy of what happens when society deems us redundant. Heart, soul and where it goes? Spark, glow, and your favorite clothes, scattered in thrift stores. In "Home Team" we meet a striving artist desperately looking for a few folks on his side. You hear what they say, that one down you have to stop
Try giving more, but they show you the door... Youre in search for the home team
Besides Danny Allen's inovative guitar riffing, the sound track to this audio mind film is provided by the multi-faceted drummer/ percussionist/ xylophonist, Mich Kink and produced/engineered by 2003 DIY Producer of the Year, John Would who picked up the intrumentation where Danny and Mich left off (bass, slide guitar, keyboards, etc.) -- Howdy is Stanley Recordings latest release, poised to take the musical world by storm and kick some serious guitar-carrying-boy-band ass.
