"up-to-date translations of Old Testament Psalms combined with the modal folk sounds of bluegrass, creating new acoustic settings."

About the Artist
FolkPsalm consists of some of the North Carolina’s finest musicians, including renowned freelance upright bassist Robbie Link, vocalist Taz Halloween, drummer Mark Simonsen, central NC fiddling icon Al McCanless, Shady Grove Band founder and mandolin player Charles Pettee, Steep Canyon Rangers founder Lizzie Bahnson, guitarist Brian Bolton, and vocalist Brittany Whitmire.

Album Description
FolkPsalm performs a unique and original collection of Old Testament Psalms set to fiddle-based Americana music. The Psalms are hymns and spiritual poems of Hebrew origin, some of which date as far back as 3000 years. The original melodies have been lost for centuries. This recording offers Psalms set to new folk and bluegrass melodies featuring the fiddle, acoustic guitar, mandolin, percussion and of course, the human voice. These treatments make the beautiful imagery and powerful metaphors of these poems as vital for us today as they were for the original listeners.
