"Carmel Valley Ride is exceptional... since it appeared, I've listened to it about eight times, in its entirety."

Bonnie Grice, DJ, WLIU Radio, Long Island, NY
"A sweet voice, great lyrics and guitar... a little Victoria Williams... a little Emmy Lou... a lot of heart."

Album Description
Caroline Doctorow's recording "Carmel Valley Ride" is loosely based on the life of Mimi Farina, a singer who in the 1960s, recorded groundbreaking folk music with her husband, poet-author-songwriter Richard Farina. Produced by Frank Carillo, the sound of the recording is stark and clear, as if each musician is in the room with the listener. Caroline's voice is clear and unaltered. Her rendition of Richard Farina's 1968 classic "A Swallow Song" is brought up to date with a contemporary folk production by Frank Carillo. In this song, her voice soars in her duet with singing partner Michael Hennessy. "Memory Tatoo" tells of a woman looking back at her life with a long-deceased partner and compares her personal experience to his public persona. The upbeat folk-pop song "Annabelle" is told through the eyes of a 1960's "wannabe" who has his sights set on a young singing star. "Carmel Valley Ride" floats on pedal steel and rough acoustic guitar sounds, bringing to life! a ride across the country and a tale of redemption and forgiveness. "Saved" is perhaps the darkest song on the record and was written in a style that echoes some '60s classic folk songs, as the the storyteller struggles with obsessive love. In the words of DJ Charlie Backfish, "Carmel Valley Ride is an exceptional recording," and one that you'll find yourself listening to over and over again...
