Rules Get Broken [Explicit Lyrics]

Editorial Reviews
MOJO UK
Who says power pop can't be loud as hell? A headphone-listening delight!

About the Artist
Darren Robbins is Time Bomb Symphony. For this, his second release under this name, he recruited stellar pop songsmith Adam Schmitt to co-produce the CD. Playing guitar is none other than six-string extraordinaire Rob Newhouse (the Elvis Brothers, Cyndi Lauper), Brad Elvis (Big Hello, Screams, the Elvis Brothers) pounds the skins like a man possessed, and some guy whose name we forget played bass.

Album Description
An album for people who still call CD's albums, who grew up on rock radio (think Cheap Trick, The Cars, early KISS, etc.), and wish there were more cool bands around instead of all these angry, tattooed knuckle-draggers. Most of the songs contained on "Rules Get Broken" were originally written for inclusion in the movie "High Fidelity", with many previewed on the film's website. Despite the fact that the songs ended up not being included in the final version of the film, Nick Hornby (who wrote the stunning novel the movie was based upon) wrote in MOJO magazine: "These songs are as appropriate a soundtrack to my novel as I could have ever hoped, if you've read the book, I'm most certain you'll agree." One of those songs, "Autobahn Driver", was later recorded by Richard Butler's Love Spit Love and earmarked for their third album. Of course, Butler then re-teamed with his brother Tim and John Ashton as Psychedelic Furs, leaving the song in the vaults. It is reclaimed here in all of its glory, with a wonderfully spot-on Richard Butler impersonation in the chorus by singer Darren Robbins. This CD - or album - is retro in all the right ways, reminding you of how cool rock music used to be. And how cool it can still be in the hands of Time Bomb Symphony.
