When she sings about everyday life, it's like an aria...the dark doesn't seem like a bad place...

About the Artist
Lauren Kendall's professional background is as varied as her music. In 2002 and 2003, she fronted a classic rock cover band. Then, she had a short stint with the power folk band Revel Moon, where she played cello, flute, keys, and performed back-up vocals. Album Description
The next big thing is here! Singer and cellist Lauren Kendall takes her original work to the next level, highlighting her talents as a cellist in her second album Red, as well as playing with a band on select songs. Known for singing and playing cello simultaneously at live performances, Kendall presents more personal material on her new album than in her debut project When. You can hear a new-found maturity, most likely gained from her personal battles and journeys from the last two years.

Her music has been described as belonging to "a branch of folk music that is populated exclusively by female singers whose voices are seductive in an earthy way, who sing about desires that are both dark and haunting, but not necessarily bad" (Style Weekly, Richmond, VA, December 8, 2004).

Kendall has a knack for orchestration, carefully choosing which songs get the full band treatment, and which songs are made more powerful by simple arrangements of voice, cello and keyboards. Her strong vocals and keen ear for harmonies are two of Red's greatest strengths. The cello adds an aching, haunting, human quality to the album.

This album is a must-have for anyone who is a Sarah or Tori fan, or anyone who enjoys fresh-sounding, original music with unique arrangements and sensitive, precise lyrics. Hear free samples at Amazon's free digital network!
