In the end, "Amfibian Tales" is a portrait of an artist in flux: an honest and increasingly open poet, and an enthusiastic, if developing, musical voice. For anyone intrigued, amused or moved by Marshall's deliciously warped perspectives, it's a vital piece of history.
About the Artist
Tom Marshall & Co is fronted by Tom, co-writer of many Phish songs, and features all the members of the band Amfibian and a few other musicians local to the central-New Jersey area where "Amfibian Tales" was recorded.

Album Description
Tom Marshall, the lyricist for Phish, releases his first solo disk. Recorded entirely in his New Jersey farm studio, the music features Tom's lyrics resting on a lush, guitar-band bed. The other instruments are played primarily by Tom's band Amfibian, although the disk features other guests who seem to have dropped by during the recording sessions as well. Notably Trey Anastatio, Phish's frontman, shares a writing credit with Tom, and Matt Kohut, who has played bass on tour with Ween, appears on most of the tracks as both a co-writer and a player.
