Includes writers/musicians based in Australia, Canada, Germany, and the USA. A mix of moody broody polticial satiric and funny works done live or in the studio. Includes ruth weiss, one of the first Beat poets to read to live jazz, still performing her work five decades later; Canadian Spoken Word legends Ian Ferrier and Catherine Kidd in a duet; singer-songwriters Abby Bardi, Heather Shayne Blakeslee, Greg Keeler, W. T. Pfefferle, Andrew Sofer, Jeff Talmadge and Ann Zimmerman; the South Carolina band Five & Dime; Madison, Wisconsin Poet Laureate Tuschen with jazz backing; and keyboard wizard/composer Zenon Slawinski. The Spoken Word material is about 50-50 with musical backing and without, and features poets as diverse as Jenny Badman, Eugenie Bisulco, Donna Denize, Sean Thomas Dougherty, Blair Ewing, Janet Hamill, and Mark Terrill. Jeff McDaniel's fiery poems delivered live at the Black Cat club prove why he's one of the best poets in America.
