About the Artist
From Dayton, Ohio, Morgan came to New York City in early 2000 and honed his craft as a songwriter while pulling late night shifts as a sound engineer at a lower east side club. After several experimental home-recording projects and releases including the 4-disc, 70-song box set Box Of Monster, the fully realized versions of eleven songs can be heard on his newest release Dream In Green, self-produced and engineered with drummer Robert Di Pietro. Along with Di Pietro, bassist Rob Jost and guitarman Brian Silverman, Morgan can be seen regularly in many of New York City’s finer live music venues and on tour in America and Europe. Along the way, Morgan has had the pleasure of sharing stages and bills with respected artists such as Bob Dylan, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Natalie Merchant, Matthew Sweet, The Breeders, Guided By Voices and others.
Album Description
The focus is upon a world created. Taylor forms his own multi-colored landscape where characters roam dreamily stupefied, hungover and self-conscious - even sinister. Songs like "A Lemon" or the deceptively cheerful "I’m From the Sun" read less like lyrics and more like epitaphs in the guise of children’s literature. Imagine watching your own life blowing by in a series of framed, detailed comic book panels. Morgan’s music embodies this type of imagery while ambling along in the form of infectious pop songs, always swooping in for the melodic chorus.
