Los Mescaleros

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Los Mescaleros came together in 1998 and perform and recored in and around San Antonio, Texas. Although the bands share similar names, Los Mescaleros is not the same band which backed Joe Strummer. We were very sorry to hear of his death and our condolences go out to his relatives and frineds.

Album Description
Los Mescaleros' overall sound is punk-influenced bluesy rock, for lack of a catchall standard descriptive. Not blues in the typical Austin-white-boy-name-that-riff sense, but in the evocative and visceral underpinnings of the genre. The band's punk punk influence stems from the poetry-infused Patti Smith tradition with few aural references to the more puerile, popular, and pervasive vein. Intricate changes and progressions reference everything from mod pop garage bands to gypsy caravans. ---Anjali Gupta, San Antonio Current
