About the Artist
For lack of anything better to do, the Subteens formed in the fall of 1995. According to the band, things pretty much went downhill from there.

According to Jim Hanas of The Memphis Flyer, "The 'Teens draw their inspiration from the golden age of punk, just before the sneering melodicism of the very late '70s tore itself apart in the formation of hardcore and New Wave... The band's pop sensibilities make them seem more modish than punk ... harking back to the days when the Clash could share a stage with the Jam."

John Gaskill, another Memphis journalist, adds: "Their songs combine the energy of British punk with the song craft of American power-pop." Band members could not be reached for comment.

Mark sings and plays guitar, Jay plays bass guitar and sings when he has to, and John plays drums. To the casual observer, band members appear to enjoy each others' company.
