About the Artist
Liubo Borrisov (laptop), Maja Cerar (violin), and Doug Geers (laptop) had worked on some projects with each other individually at the Columbia Computer Music Center until fate brought all three together in an emergency-incited and completely improvised gig at the Chelsea Art Museum in New York City in 2004. Sønreel is an innovative group on the forefront of hybrid, technology-enhanced music making, and MUSIC FOR FISH is their debut recording. The albums title and aquatic themeall tracks are named after real or legendary sea creatures or phenomena signal to listeners that this music has a distinct point of view and a fresh sound, but also an undercurrent of viseral intrigue and playful warping of traditional musical ideas.
