Editorial Reviews Haim Zinowitch, a.k.a. ZINO, is one of the most fascinating of the contemporary Israeli artists. Throughout his career, ZINO has always been a pioneer, touching on a variety of musical genres. Until 1992, ZINO mainly released indie records influenced by rock 'n' roll and Celtic music, and was known mostly for his work with other leading Israeli artists. In 1992 ZINO released the "Gibberish Project" on Helicon Records. This unique project brought ZINO and 115 musicians and singers from different cultures together on one stage. All the songs were in gibberish. ZINO described the project as "folk songs for an imaginary village." His next album, "A Bit of Lust, a Bit of Tenderness, a Bit of Love" (Helicon Records, 1993), earned him the title of Israeli rock's "bad boy." Today this album is recognized as a major milestone in the development of Israeli alternative and hard rock music. In 1996, ZINO recorded the album "Drive-by" with the English alternative rock band WHITE POWDER MA, and a year later hooked up with an innovative hip-hop trio to release "ZINO Featuring the Human Beat Box", containing 18 vocal-only hip-hop tracks featuring ZINO's vocals and unique production/sampler techniques. Songs from the disc have been heard in the hit TV shows "The Sopranos", "Sex and the City" and many others. In 2000, ZINO caught the full attention of Israeli culture and media by disguising himself as a war-scarred singer. Dubbing himself "The Burned Man," he created a fictitious biography and appeared in public disguised as a burned, masked cripple. The Israeli media gave the Burned Man and his mysterious story prime-time coverage, during which ZINO revealed his true identity. After this media fiasco, the Burned Man's first CD (one of Israel's all-time best selling albums) was released, and a second title followed soon after. For the past six years, ZINO has owned a commercial music company as well as a complex of studios. Together with his partner TOMMER (TOMMY) BRIAN, he creates music for many of Israel's prime-time TV dramas, as well as game shows, movies, multimedia projects, and commercial hits. ZINO AND TOMMY have gained a reputation for the songs they have had featured in American TV shows such as "Third Watch" and "That's Life", and for their work for interactive computer gaming companies such as Compro Games, Ocean, and Game Tech. Zino and Tommy are recording artists and songwriters for LoveCat Music Records and Publishing for the world outside Israel.
