Perhaps the most distinctive thing about Violent Femmes is their relationship with their "fourth member", which is the audience. Along with a legion of new fans, The Femmes have some audience members who have grown up with the band, and even some 3 generations families of fans. But the band continues to gather the high school and college fans who have always been the core of the Femmes crowd. This "Picture of Dorian Gray" effect is unique in the world of pop music.

In celebrating their third decade of insanity. Cooking Vinyl is pleased to announce the re-release of ‘Rock’. ‘Rock’ was originally released only in Australia by Mushroom Records in 1995. It was recorded when the Femmes were without a U.S. deal. It was briefly available release in the States soon after, but has long been out-of-print and in demand by fans.
