Editorial Reviews Recorded on an eight track recorder at Arbogasts apartment in Lancaster, Pa., the warm yet unpolished sound of "To Remember/To Forget" reinforces the detached mood that tends to find its way into each song. Due to a severly broken bone, Arbogast had four metal screws going through his left arm while recording the album. Hes a lefty too. "The contraption made it kind of hard to play guitar, but it gave me time to experiment and create the record I wanted." Two long-time friends and local musicians, Josh Silliman and Dave Pitz, helped fill out the songs, adding everything from cello to theramin. In its two and a half year existence, The Gunshy has shared the stage with such bands as Joan of Arc, Jonahs Onelinedrawing, Denali, and Hot Rod Circuit. The intensity of The Gunshys live shows is unmistakable. Whether it be with a full band, as a duo, or solo, it is obvious that Arbogasts songs are incredibly important to him. Every aspect of the album is marked with personal references. "The photo on the cover is one of the only pictures Ive ever seen of one of my grandfathers. He died when my dad was 13."

About the Artist
The Gunshys debut LP, "To Remember/To Forget", is a collection of ten brutally honest, autobiographical songs. Centered around the songwriting of Matt Arbogast, the same uncompromising sincerity found in artists like Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and Will Oldham is evident here. Arbogasts voice sounds both delicate and eerily content as he sings his songs of disillusion, love, and death. Musically, the album ranges from somber acoustic melodies to more upbeat indie/folk songs.
