The Hughes brothers' '00 documentary took an unflinching, often amusing look at the street sales/general management end of the World's Oldest Profession. Its soundtrack was fat with old-school pimp-soul grooves, quickly becoming a mixer's delight and rich source for samples -- even if it didn't initially receive an official release. This collection addresses that oversight with a street-smart vengeance, culling together an eclectic, libido-lubed menage a soul that spans the punk-funk of Rick James and the erstwhile jazz of George Duke, and dotted with superstars (Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Marvin Gaye, WAR) and lesser-known charters (Leon Haywood, Faze-O, Slave) whose contributions are intermixed with colorful comments from the film's most memorable, er, entrepreneurs.
