The year is 1921 in Brooklyn, New York. Terrible things are happening to Ettie's family; is it just coincidence or is her family under the curse of an "Evil Eye" that followed their housekeeper to America from the Old Country? And if there is an "Evil Eye," how can Ettie get it to go away?
About the Author
Sandra Tankoos has been married for over 40 years. She is the mother of three adult children. She has a B.A. from Queens College and an M.A. from Long Island University. She worked as a school teacher for 11 years before leaving teaching to start her own business. Ms. Tankoos has been a successful entrepreneur for over 20 years, nevertheless, she has always felt that her real calling was writing.
Upon her mother's death, Ms. Tankoos began to read through a family history left to her by her mother, Ettie. Ms. Tankoos was intrigued by what she read, and was motivated to put her mother's encounter with the "Evil Eye" into a book geared towards adolescent children. Although the book is fiction, it is based on a real adventure.
Growing Family is Ms. Tankoos' first journey into the young adult literary world.
