"The All American Hero" along with "Wynton" from Who's Who in Jazz are some of the first recordings from a young Wynton Marsalis. They were recorded on October 11, 1980 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Wynton's 18th birthday. The recordings also feature Art Blakey on drums.
