About the Artist
If you've ever heard an artist walk the line between the smooth and straight ahead Jazz genre's, then you know what to expect when you hear the silky soundscapes that Earl Wyatt has carefully constructed on his solo debut recording Afterhours. A classically trained pianist for twenty-one years, this gifted arranger, composer, and producer took on all titles while recording and releasing this album. From writing all of the songs, to the performing all the instruments, and even designing the cover art. This engaging collection of music is a true expression of Earl's state of mind and soul at the time of its creation, and as such pulls in the listener. Having played venues such as the historically prestigious Bohemian Caverns, Wyatt is quickly establishing himself as a presence in the DC/National jazz scene. A former member of the limitless Buckwheat Jones, his improvisational keyboard was constantly featured during live performances. When asked what he wants listeners to come away with, after experiencing his music he said, "I just want people to relate to my music, the way I do to my influences [Stevie Wonder, David Benoit, Joe Sample, Miles Davis, Earl Klugh, and Carlos Santana]. I want them to leave with atleast three melody lines they can freely hum to themselves after the CD player has been turned off...
