Product Description
This album, the first of Tom Lellis' career proudly indicates the path in jazz-vocal stylings he would take throughout his long and still burgeoning recorded output. Having assembled an all-star team of players including Jermey Steig, on flute, Ron Busch, vibes, Bill Dobbins on piano, Eddie Gomez on Bass and Jack Dejohnette on drums with skip Skip Hadden, percussion, he proceeded to record a totally unique and memorable set of songs.
Lucky Southern, a Keith Jarrett classic, lyricized by Tom, is followed by E.S.P., a Wayne Shorter/Miles Davis tune, again vocalized by Tom Lellis. Nightshades, an original by Tom is Followed by Man From Tanganyika, a McCoy Tyner song, with lyrics by Lellis.
