Featuring solo performances by Mark Isham, Billy Childs, Vinnie Colaiuta, Grant Geissman, and Bruce Fowler, this CD captures the spirit of these wonderful creatures. Macchia, who has worked with Van Dyke Parks, Ella Fitzgerald, Brian Wilson, Clare Fisher, Jerry Lee Lewis, Yes, and the Tonight Show Band, has composed and orchestrated on numerous films and television shows, and was the recipient of a National Endowment Grant for Jazz Arts. Animals is a follow up to 2003's The Galapagos Suite in which Cadence Magazine raves "Macchia's coloristic sense brings to mind the best of Gil Evans, with a palette that extends the comparison even further". Macchia, who composed and produced the project, is featured on saxophones, flutes, clarinets, ethnic winds & synthesizers.
