About the Artist
Warren Byrd began as a child singing in the church choir, performed prolifically as a teen and though was scholarshipped as a classical vocalist, decided to become a Jazz pianist/composer. He has worked all over the world and played with many including Wynton Marsalis, Marion Meadows, Charles McPherson, and too many others.
Many of the selections on Truth Raised Twice were considered to be "superior entries" by The Thelonious Monk Institute, as he was amongst the Top Twenty-Five competitors in the 1999 Monk International Piano Competition.
Many of Warren Byrd's most notable work of recent can be heard in his collaborations with David Chevan and The Afro-Semitic Experience.
Product Description
Truth Raised Twice is an album of music which says hello again to tunes as written by Thelonious Monk, Jackie McLean, Cole Porter, sang by Billie or Ella, played by Miles or "Bird" or "Chick", as well as original compositions, considered to be good Jazz by many, in Warren Byrd's own fresh voice.
In short, Truth Raised Twice celebrates authenticity in song made by people of artistic integrity.
