About the Artist
Students of Science is a hip hop group from Chicago that is deep rooted in the study of Islam. They use their inspiration to deliver uplifting and thought provoking messages that nourish our understanding of life as opposed to the smoke screens that rap artists tend to offer the listener.
Chicago Beau is a Blues Man who has toured the world as a musician, writer, poet, and publisher. He has recorded and produced countless records with some of the worlds best known blues and jazz artists.
Malachi Favors is one of the worlds most mysterious figures in music. He is most recognized as the bass player in the Art Ensemble of Chicago, one of the most highly regarded groups in the jazz world. He has played on hundreds of recordings over the past 50 years! He is definately an historical pressence.
Enoch Williamson is a master percussionist as well as an accomplished ethnomusicologist. He has played on several records, and is most recognized for his co leadership of Sun Percussion Summit for the recording "Afrikan Song" with Famoudou Don Moye. He also lends his talents as musical director to this project.
Selah G is also most recognized for his percussion work as a member of Sun Percussion Summit. Since singing on "Afrikan Song" he has started to highlight his vocal ability more and has developed the art of the songster.
Meshach Silas is also a member of Sun Percussion Summit. Mostly recognized for his hand drumming, he also plays the trap set in certain situautions. Recently, he has been playing with local Chicago Indian/Reggae Sensation Funkadesi.
Herb Walker is mostly known as a blues guitarist, from his work with artists like Sugar Blue and Tyrone Davis, but he has also toured the world with the Art Ensemble of Chicago, as well as Famoudou Don Moye.
Charlie Hosch has played for a lot of different groups in a lot of different situations. From the Emotions and Eath Wind & Fire to Sugar Blue to Famoudou Don Moye. He is an all around "funky" bass player.

It features the conscious rap lyrics of STUDENTS OF SCIENCE with the musical enlightenment of world reknown instrumentalists to create a fusion of black experience past and present. It is blues, jazz, hip hop, R&B, and soul all at the same time bridging the generation gap, as well as the classification gap that tends to seperate music and people.
