About the Artist
Burton Greene first burst on the free jazz scene in the early 1960s with classic performances with Albert Ayler, Patty Waters, Sam Rivers, and Gato Barbieri. For the past 40 years, and more than 40 recordings later, he has collaborated with all the major jazz artists of his generation. Burton was also the first to introduce Eastern music into jazz in the early 1980s with his seminal klezmer-jazz music. Today, he continues an active performance international schedule at all the world's major music festivals.
Product Description
Live at Grasland finds Burton Greene before a live studio audience in a rare solo piano performance. With a mix of "inside"and "ouside" pieces, the recording is a classic musical journey from the atomic bomb music of the 1960s to the quiet new Greene balm of 2004. Many of the works presented here have never been performed by Burton in a solo piano context.
