About the Artist
Doug Bickel is a jazz pianist that hails from Pittsburgh, PA. He is currently Assistant Professor of Jazz Piano at the University of New Orleans, where he succeeded Ellis Marsalis upon his retirement. He runs the gamut of musical styles, but the most applicable descriptor of his approach is modern jazz.

Product Description
The New Doug Bickel Trio, featuring bassist Roland Guerin, veteran of the Marcus Roberts Trio, and Adonis Rose, for many years Nicolas Payton's drummer of choice, presents their inaugural recording which was recorded live at New Orleans' Snug Harbor, one of the World's premiere jazz venues. The disk features compositions by Bickel, Guerin, Ron Miller, Samir Zarif (a Bickel student) and producer Dennis Marks. The approach is a melding of melodicism and the driving beat of the New Orleans scene.
