"His sound, execution and musical ideas are exemplary." - Tony Moreno Gian Tornatore presents an exciting and sophisticated repertoire of jazz music that can be enjoyed by all audiences. He was raised in California and was exposed to the rhythmic R&B sounds of Tower Of Power at an early age. Upon moving to the East Coast to attend Berklee College of Music, his saxophone playing and compositions became heavily influenced by musicians such as George Garzone, Chris Potter, and Pat Metheny. When asked about Gian, George Garzone replied, "I have been privileged to be Gian's teacher, and over this time I have seen him evolve into one of Berklee's most innovative and original saxophone players as well as composers." Gian's first major performance occurred at the age of 16; he was invited to perform with Anne Wilson of the musical group Heart. The excitement of performing for such large audiences throughout California inspired him to pursue a career in music. Other major performances include the Main Stageof the Monterey Jazz Festival and performances with jazz greats Don Menza and George Garzone. Luciana Souza has said of Gian, "Gian possesses a natural talent for music." Gian is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and New York University. He has developed his unique approach to performance and composition by studying with world-renowned musicians such as Joe Lovano, George Garzone, Hal Crook, and Bill Pierce. Gian is currently freelancing and teaching in the New York City Area.
