About the Artist
Bucket Shop came together in the summer of 2002. Bassist Pat Blake and lead guitarist Rick Ozenbaugh, who grew up together and played in various side projects together as well, started writing basic song forms together for what they envisioned to be a fusion/electric jazz band that could be versatile enough to groove, swing or rock. After some unsuccessful attempts to match the right musicians with similarly wide ranging musical tastes and influences, Blake and Ozenbaugh got together with rhythm guitarist Mark Cavanagh and drummer Robert Gay, who coincidentally were neighbors. After a short while as a quartet, keybordist Gregg Spero was added to complete the current lineup. Incorporating such varied influences as Santana, Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Victor Wooten, Baron Brown, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Tony Williams, the band strives to create music with interesting rhythmic variation. Saxophonist Frank Catalano is featured! on the cd and frequently performs with the band live.
