Since settling in South Florida, after the seemingly requisite tours with famous big bands, and commercial dates, tutoring young people in music of real worth, and the man who brought extraordinary high school jazz bands to the legendary digs of the famed Newport jazz Festival, Michael wanted to put a new band together in 1988, and bring his sound to the large audiences in the Palm Beach area, growing larger by the moment. During his first year, the word spread rapidly about the talented leader and his band. Soon the Society Patrons beckoned, and he charmed them, completely. He was asked to accompany some of the music world's most famous celebrities, as he had throughout his career. They also became believers. With all this high level adulation, Michael never changed his musical menu to fit certain tastes. This band really swings, as it must, to represent the enormous greatness of the fabled standards. Yet, it also soothes, to encompass those splendid ballads that make big band sounds so truly wonderful. All this is a marvelous concoction of Michael and his Michael Rose Band.
