About the Artist
CoCo and Company is a jazz band based in Lancaster, PA. The bands repertoire consists mostly of straight ahead jazz standards with a smattering of smooth jazz, R&B and the blues. Performances usually include raucous scatting and solos that sometimes tend toward the ethereal, however, this is adapted as necessary to compliment the venue and the preferred mood. The band has performed in several well established east coast jazz festivals including the Berks Jazzfest in Reading, PA and the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival. CoCo and Company has opened for the famed Preservation Hall Jazz Roy Ayres, Kim Waters, and most recently, the band completed several successful stints at the Zanzibar Blue in Philadelphia, a venue of international jazz. The band also has recently released a long awaited CD entitled In Good Company which receives airplay on The Smooth Jazz Café program on WROZ, 101 FM and also Don fxs Fresh and Smooth internet radio station on www.live365.com. !
Marion "CoCo" Coleman, vocalist and leader of CoCo and Company, has thrilled audiences both in the US and internationally with her four octave range. She is self-trained i n jazz, R&B, and the blues and has been compared to Carmen McCrae, Sarah Vaughn and Dianne Reeves.
Mark Huber, pianist and a native Lancastrian, has an impressive grounding in classical piano. He has collaborated with many top jazz artists in the Central Pennsylvania region. Huber has been featured as jazz piano soloist at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music in Lancaster, and with the Lancaster and Delaware Symphony Orchestras.
David Sheaffer, a bassist, singer, and music educator/choral director, has performe d and recorded with jazz and rock artists for over 25 years and was a founding member of the reknown Lancaster area band, The Sharks. His bass can be heard on the Debut CD of Joe Marc's Brother, who were voted 1997's Best Unsigned Band in Nashville, TN. As a singer, David has performed with Lancaster's acclaimed Wheatland Chorale and appeared as tenor soloist for the Central PA Choral Festival and the Music at Gretna Celebrate Bach Festival.
Chris Santiago, drummer and native of central PA, is sometimes side man, leader, vocalist, and musician referral service. He has performed in various regional groups over the years, including some led by Ron Waters, Steve Rudolph, and Dan Stuber. His work with Extremity, the Out-Islanders, and Split Decision has helped establish Santiago as a versatile percussionist whose range of styles spans several genres of music.
