There is no complicated hardware required. The Combo RAID system fits into two standard 5.1/4" drive bays of any system. Installation is so simple that within minutes, you will be able to enjoy the high performance RAID system using the latest Serial ATA technology.Since the Combo RAID system is built on the Combo Hard Drive platform, you can use any of the hard drive as an external hard drive when it is removed from the computer. Simply attached the optional Addonics USB 2.0, Firewire, PCMCIA or Serial ATA interface cable to the back of the Combo Hard Drive enclosure, you are now ready to transfer data to and from the hard drives mounted in your Combo RAID system.The Addonics Serial ATA PCI Host Controller comes with built-in RAID O and RAID 1 support. Setting up the RAID function is done through a user friendly Window baseds utility. For mission critical applications, you can choose to operate the RAID system in RAID 1. With RAID 1 setting, either hard drive can be hot swapped on the fly without any interruption to the system operation. Once a drive is replaced, it will be automatically rebuilt with the data from the existing drive and remain continuously mirrored in real time, all done without any interruption to your system operationNeed faster storage performance? All is needed is to change the RAID setting on the Serial ATA PCI Controller to RAID 0 setting. You will immediately notice the significant jump in your storage Read/Write speed.The Combo RAID system package includes IDE-Serial ATA converters (ADIDESA, 2 sets), Serial ATA PCI host controller with RAID 0/1 built-in (ADSA2, 1 set), Combo Hard Drive enclosure (2 sets), Combo Hard Drive Desktop Drive Cradle (2 sets).
