However, many disk and tape storage systems do not provide Fiber Channel attachment. To bridge the gap between Fiber Channel server adapters and SCSI-attached disk and tape storage, IBM has developed the Storage Area Network Data Gateway.The IBM Storage Area Network (SAN) Data Gateway is a hardware solution that enables the attachment of SCSI storage systems to Fiber Channel adapters on specific Intel-based servers running Windows NT and UNIX-based servers from IBM and Sun.
