BUSlink's External USB 2.0 7200 RPM 80 GB hard drive provides support for video editing, games, system backup at rates up to 40 times faster than conventional USB 1.1. at up to 480 Mbps of bandwidth. And, unlike USB 1.1 and other buses, low and full speed devices will both run at this high speed rate, so allows other devices on the bus can share the bus.

USB 2.0 is essentially an improvement on USB 1.1, so it's backward compatible with current USB systems and peripherals, cables and connectors. So the UII-8072E will work with your existing system, but faster. The device is plug and play, and features driver auto installation, and power management.

You can use the USB 1.1 host controller with this device, but you will not be able to achieve the high speed rates of up to 480 Mbps. Notably, USB 1.1 devices will not run at 480 Mbps in USB 2.0 environment. But they should attain better performance running through BUSlink’s USB 2.0 card, because of the architecture of multiple host controllers inside the host controller chip.
