Book Description
You are never too old or too young to do ANYTHING! This book proves the truth of that by highlighting what famous people were doing when they were 40. Some were climbing into boxing rings, hitting home runs, writing their first book, or starting their first business. Others had not even begun doing what would make them famous.

We can relate to athletes, explorers, inventors, movie stars, and other celebrities because they, like us, have aspirations and face obstacles. Their fascinating stories provide lessons in creativity, optimism, preparation, perseverance, and courage.

From George Washington to John Travolta, and from Cher to Jane Austen--knowing what others were doing at 40 can inspire you to make the most of your own life.

From the Author
Life at 40 is a collection of anecdotes about what famous people were doing at that milestone age. The men and women I write about are from the past and present, and come from all walks of life--sports, movies, television, music, literature, business, government, science, exploration, and invention. While many of the stories will be new, the names of most of the people are familiar to everyone—Tommy Hilfiger, Susan B. Anthony, Billy Blanks, Albert Einstein, Martha Stewart, Walt Disney, and Tina Turner. Others, such as Patty Wagstaff, Ole Christiansen, and Philo T. Farnsworth, are not household names. They are famous only in their respective fields, or created something well-known even if their names are not.

There are hundreds of famous people noted in each book, so each entry is short, anywhere from one line to a couple of pages. Most entries are a paragraph in length. The books are entertaining and easy to read, but also inspirational. You’ll find numerous examples of creativity, perseverance, optimism, preparation, and courage in meeting challenges.

We can relate to these famous people because they were once 40 and because they weren’t always famous. They started out like everyone else, having certain aspirations and facing obstacles, in many cases tremendous obstacles. The stories are often surprising not just because of what we learn about the people, but also because they challenge our notion of what is possible at that age.

Knowing what famous people accomplished (or hadn’t yet accomplished) when they were 40 can inspire you with a sense of the possibilities at every age. With relatively few exceptions, we are never too old or too young to do ANYTHING! It is a paradox. By focusing on age, the books prove that age really doesn’t matter and need not be a factor in what we attempt or what we accomplish.
