Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
Adult/High School–These few hundred short tales of trivia can be as much fun and as useful as The Guinness Book of Records for group sharing or lone perusing. Readers may know that there really was a "Wendy" (Dave Thomas named the hamburger chain after his daughter), but what about "Uncle Ben?" The book is divided into 11 chapters, grouping snacks, fast food, packaging, etc., along with a "Real or Fictitious" section that sheds light on some famous names, like Colonel Sanders (real) and Betty Crocker (fictitious). Reichblum also understands that the facts are quite interesting in themselves, and, rather than putting too much of his own opinion into the essays, he presents "just the facts"; this pared-down style is a real strength of the book. It is unfortunate that there is no index; readers will have to be content with browsing through these strange and fascinating facts.–Jamie Watson, Harford County Public Library, MD
