From the Publisher
Have I said before how much I love working with Jerry Osborne? This man knows everything there is to know about records. My brother, who collects 45s, screamed, "YOU know JERRY OSBORNE?" when I casually mentioned my close personal ties! I'm thrilled to say that MONEY RECORDS was the first completely new book we worked on together, from idea to publication. Jerry suggested the book, and I jumped at the chance, because I love Jerry, and because I thought the idea was brilliant. Listing the 1000 most valuable records, from #1, which would be a record by either the Beatles or Elvis, and which would be worth over $20,000 (turned out to be the Beatles, worth $25,000!), all the way down to #1000, which would be worth at least $500 (turned out to be worth $650!), and adding in fascinating anecdotal information -- what could be more fun? Jerry told me that record collectors and dealers talk about the "money records" all the time -- agreeing, disagreeing, arguing the merits, etc. Add in lots of illustrations -- including an 8-page color insert -- and you have a real treat for collectors and fans alike.
And did I mention how much I love Jerry Osborne?
