He not only is fully conversant in the grandfathers of the form, he also is able to follow their lineage through the stereophonic experimentation of such '60s swingers as Esquivel and Herb Alpert, '70s soul-meisters such as the Fifth Dimension, and contemporary appropriaters of the Mancini legacy such as Pizzicato Five and trip-hoppers such as Tricky. Colorful reproductions of the oddly hilarious album covers of the early '60s highlight this fun and informative volume.
