About the Author
California guitarist Jeff Devine, a graduate of Biola University (La Mirada, CA) and California State University at Fullerton, recently released his first solo guitar CD, a collection of sacred favorites entitled Softly and Tenderly: Hymns for Guitar. As a student of David Grimes at CSUF, Jeff earned his Master's degree by transcribing and arranging music of German lutenist Sylvius Leopold Weiss (1686-1750) for the classical guitar.

Devine, an ASCAP member and songwriter, has lived in Lompoc, CA with his two children Matthew and Shannon, since 1991, serving as full-time Worship and Music Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, Vandenberg Village. In addition to planning and directing the worship services each week, he leads rehearsals for the church's various vocal and instrumental ensembles, often writing and arranging music for them.

He is also an adjunct music faculty member at the Lompoc Valley campus of Allan Hancock College, where he teaches guitar classes.
